San Francisco Federal Building San Francisco, CA This conference examines “Central Banking in Historical Perspective: One Hundred Years of the Federal Reserve.” As the title suggests, the conference explores the history of theFederal Reserve and central banking around the world during the last century. Topics ofinterest include the impact and evolution of monetary policy, the successes and failures ofcentral banks as regulators of financial institutions, the reasons for the creation of theFederal Reserve, the optimal design of central banks, the causes and consequences offinancial crises, the Federal Reserve’s impact on the international financial system, theinfluence of international events on the Federal Reserve, and the rise of shadow ban |
